Lachie Thomas Wins Silver in U17 800m at Australian Junior Track & Field Championships

πŸ₯ˆ Perth, April 5, 2025 – redLINE Runnings' Lachie Thomas secured the silver medal in the U17 800m final at the Australian Junior Track and Field Championships. His strong performance highlighted his potential as a junior rising star in just his second year in athletics. πŸ₯ˆ 

The race, which took place on a warm and sunny afternoon, saw Thomas competing against a strong field of talented runners. From the start, it was clear that the competition would be fierce. Thomas positioned himself well, maintaining a steady pace and staying within striking distance of the leaders.

Positioned on the outside at the lap, he moved into 4th position down the back straight. Moving around into third on the final bend, he finished strong, closing the gap on the second-placed New Zealand runner to finish just behind in third overall and second Australian behind fellow Victorian Oscar Wright. His determination and speed were evident as he crossed the finish line, clinching the silver medal with an impressive time of 1:55.62, a personal best.
