Lachie Thomas – On the Rise 🚀

In just over two years in the sport, Lachie Thomas has established himself as one of Victoria’s fastest‑rising young middle‑distance athletes — and his 2025 season showcased exactly why he’s a name to watch.

After finishing second at the APS Finals, Lachie responded with the resilience to win the Victorian All Schools 800m Championship, announcing himself as a major emerging talent in the state.

Riding that momentum, Lachie returned to Geelong and produced another standout performance at AVSL, breaking the Geelong U17 800m Centre Record, a significant milestone.

He carried that form into December, where he finished second at the Australian All Schools Championships, proving he could match it with the best young 800m runners in the country. Then, on 19 December, Lachie ran 1:51.99 at the Victorian Milers Club — a performance that not only marked another breakthrough PB but also set a new Geelong Residential Record.

What makes Lachie’s trajectory remarkable is the speed of his development. With just over two years in the sport, he has already progressed from a raw talent to a legitimate national medal contender, consistently lifting his performances with every major opportunity.

Lachie now looks forward to the new year, with his first major challenge of 2026 being a training block at Falls Creek.S
