A massive congratulations to Josh Unthank for an incredible performance at Round 2 of AVSL on Saturday, 18 October!
Clocking 8:27.59 in the 3000m — a 19-second personal best — Josh bettered the Geelong Centre record that had stood since 1991. In doing so, he claimed the U19 and U20 record of 8:31.1, previously held by former Australian representative Lee Troop.
This race served as a national qualifier for the Zatopek – U20 De Castella 3000m in December at Lakeside. Josh is hoping this performance will secure a spot in the A race, putting him in contention to compete against the nation’s best.
He will look to build on this performance at the Victorian Milers Club 3000m in November, continuing his push toward another personal best and maintaining his strong start to the season.
